As everybody or anything has a character in its unique own way, we really were spoilt for choice this Christmas.
Task: Find and design a character. This blog shows the development from first scribbles to a story, leading to an animatic with sound. Concept and mood boards help to get 'a feel' for the final production, which is a 20 second animation in the genre and style of our choice.
Still, this web presence is all about PRE PRODUCTION.
Enjoy your stay. Flakes are out today I'm afraid.

Character found! Now to build a story...
The character I am going for now is a curious young boy hence his big questioning and examining eyes. He tends to be a bit on the cheeky side at times and has his own way of getting what he wants.
So what about, rather than being troubled by another person, what about an animal?
As I thought back of an encounter I had with a seagull in St. Ives in 2009, I rather felt the need to go with that story than the initial one.
INCENTIVE FOR STORY IDEA
In the first one I was going to develop an idea I got from the newspaper. There are numerous versions on it online:
FIRST IDEA (DISMISSED)
I always wandered how some conducters could stay calm during major disturbances by some members of the audience; what they would do if the disturbance just wouldn't stop. In image number five you can see a few first rough sketches for 'Carl the Conductor'.
It got dismissed for the later idea as I couldn't think of an enjoyable payoff within 20 seconds.
